Bulgur
is a cereal rich in fibers and complex carbohydrates.
You can replace husked rice and spaghetti with this product, especially if
you want to lose weight.
Compared to other grains, it has a lower glycemic index, which means that,
after eating, it raises blood glucose much more gently, making it an
excellent source of carbohydrates for diabetics.
In addition, due to its low glycemic index, it is considered to have a high
saturation index, or in other words, it satiates you more than other sources
of carbohydrates, such as rice and potatoes, while giving substantially the
same energy.
It contains much more fibers than white rice and pasta and significant
amounts of complex B vitamins, such as thiamine, riboflavin and especially
niacin, which are necessary for the normal metabolism and proper functioning
of nerve cells and therefore the brain.
However, in addition to these vitamins, it contains vitamin E, which
contributes to the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system, three
times as much potassium and four times as much phosphorus, in relation to
pasta and white rice and significant amounts of minerals such as iron,
magnesium and zinc, but also trace elements, such as selenium, which have
strong antioxidant activity.
Finally, systematic consumption in the long run can help reduce high blood
pressure.
