Althea
(marsh-mallow) is found everywhere in Greece. It has round green leaves and
white or pink blossoms.
The root is used for digestive problems and especially in inflammation of
the mouth, gingivitis, gastritis, peptic ulcer, enteritis and colitis and it
soothes stomach disorders, cough, bronchitis and cold.
It also helps with skin diseases and disorders, muscle and tendon
pains.
Its leaves are used for the lungs and urinary tract.
For urethritis and sand in the urinary tract, Althaea leaves are very
soothing. Generally this plant is very soothing for any irritation of the
mucous membranes of the body.
It relieves and protects against cuts, scratches, burns and wounds.
