Eritrea has the properties of gentian and can replace it remarkably. It is a bitter herb, liver, appetizer, cholera, sweat, digestive, vomiting, antipyretic, anticancer, helminthic and tonic. Its bitter action stimulates the digestive secretions. The secretion of gastric juice increases as soon as the herb acts on the mucous membranes of the mouth. It also stimulates the sympathetic system and circulation and has a stimulating effect on blood circulation. It is used as a digestive and for gastric stimulation. Mainly used in anorexia when it is associated with liver failure and is a useful herb for indigestion regardless of the cause. The infusion is prepared with 1 tbsp in a cup of water for 5-10 minutes. Drink a cup half an hour before meals. Overdosage can cause vomiting and complications. Avoid use in children while pregnant women may use the herb in homeopathic dosing.
