Laurus
has many uses in folk tradition.
Its leaves and fruits are used, without the pits that are considered toxic
and formerly used as abortion inducers.
The extract of laurus helps in the proper functioning of the stomach.
Laurel oil, which is extracted by mechanical compression of the fruits, is
regarded as antirheumatic, for muscle contractions and to tackle
arthritis.
It was also used to strengthen hair but also to darken their color (and that
of lashes) by boiling laurus and walnut leaves together.
Today it is used in perfumes, candles and soaps.
